Wilfred Bussy was the editor of the Police Review, the first of the Force magazines and the forerunner of the Outpost. Bussy wrote and published in the Police Review a series of articles covering the early history of the BSAP. The fact they were written soon after the events described, by a serving member who knew those taking part, adds an immediacy which is of value. Starting in 1886 Bussy describes the various units which, after many campaigns, evolved to form the British South Africa Police.
The events of the Matabele and Mashona uprisings are covered in detail as also is that other great active service period of the BSAP in early years, the Anglo-Boer War.
Written in a highly readable style these articles collected here in one place are a valuable contribution to the History of the BSAP and were the basis of the subsequent histories by Gibbs and Philips.
