Squad 10/1969 Photo: I'm looking
for a copy of the Squad 10/1969 photo. As I recall,
we passed out at the same time as 11/69 and (at least)
1/70, so there'll be about 50 or so people in the photo.
I'll pay Sterling, USD or Euro, in advance, either for
an original or for a good professional reproduction
with a scan of the background so I can get that reproduced
as well - thanks.

Brigadier General William
Bodle:
Thank you for publishing such a detailed and interesting article on William
Bodle (Vol.10 Issue 2 Summer Autumn issue 2007) I wish to add just a little
snippet ..... that between 1922 and 1924 he lived in a house called
'Bulawayo' which was sited on Horsenden Hill, in the Borough of Ealing. It
is a couple of miles from where his brother lived in Harrow on the Hill. It
is sad to hear William died in 1924 - he must have gone back to his place of
birth to die.

BSAP Metal Figures:
I wonder if anyone can assist me. My father, the late TEN Carr (5397) was a
serving member of the BSAP from 1955 to 1980. In order to preserve our
family links to the BSAP for further generations, I am trying to collect
metal 'toy soldiers' as such in varying BSAP uniforms. I too have followed a
link I came across and not received a reply. Can anyone help? I would also
be interested in hearing from anyone who served with Dad, especially
memories of PATU as I am trying to compile a family history.

Wanting Rhodesian flag: Anyone
out there willing to sell a large-sized (post-UDI) Rhodesia
flag? I prefer anything over 6ft in length. If it is
a made-in-Rhodesia flag, even better. I don't like the
cheap knock-offs, but an accurately proportioned and
detailed reproduction would be acceptable.

'Leopard' Mine Resiting
Vehicle in the BSAP:Hi, I have been researching
this vehicle (pics at: www.saaaca.org.za/leopard )and
have one for restoration. In amougst the documentation
found during research is a listing of BSAP Members who
were apparently responsible for field testing these
vehciles at the request of the factory as a result of
failures found, or responsible for them as a whole.
(The doc is not clear on this but indicates the number
of Parts Manuals issued to these Members). The document
is undated but estimate 1974 to 77. BSAP Members mentioned
are:
Chipinga: M/I/C Insp. Tavener, with reference to a 'Nigel Bailey'.
Mtoko (JOC): D/Supt. Potter, with reference to Mike Reeler and an admin
person, 'Cummings'.
Mrewa: M/I/C Insp. McDiarmid, with reference to a specifc vehicle: G-LPD-154
'belonging to Mrewa'.
Darwin (Mt Darwin ?): M/I/C John Grey, (no rank given)
Salisbury: BSAP HQ MT, Supt. P Hudson, Insp. Tony Whitehead, and Support
Unit Insp. Macleon.
Should any of these Members be contactable, I would very much appreciate
corresponding with them in regard to their experiance with the Leopard. Many
thanks. (The doc also lists persons from: IntAf, CMED, ESC, PTC, Tanganda
Tea Estates, ADF and Puzey & Payne the agents if any ex members of these
organisations may be known).

'Si Ye Pambili':
In 1956 four members of the Force at Bulawayo decided to resign, depart for
UK, where they bought a trading schooner. They set sail for the Pacific
where they reached Tahiti. Bill Baker opened up a Gents Outfitters there,
Mike Maude and Roger Gowan and a fourth member who's name I forget, then
went their separate ways. I knew all of them, a book was written titled the
same name as the vessel...Se Ye Pambili (we go forward). I would like to get
a copy if anyone has one for sale.

Where Vultures Roost by Josh Stafford:
From Zimbabwe's southern Matabeleland there is a cry
of outrage, for a witch doctor has ordered the kidnapping
of a child with delicate Asian features - the child's
body is to be used to prepare muti, an African medicine.
Joseph Lee is faced with a terrible decision, one that
could cost him his life, or worse: the lives of his
friend and young son. Can Joseph overcome this evil
that has visited his family? And at what price? Set
in the mid 1960s through the mid 1980s, 'Where Vultures
Roost' is a tragic tale of Africa, a place where love
and compassion co-exist with brutality and age old pagan
rituals. It is a tale of friendship and bravery, of
love and despair, and the sacrifices we must make to
overcome evil. But most of all it is a story about the
harsh reality of life on the African bushveld. 'Where
Vultures Roost' is available online from www.amazon.com
and www.PublishAmerica.com Personalised copies are available
- contact the author at Josh@JoshStaffordBooks.com www.JoshStaffordBooks.com
