Police Dogs and Horses
I wonder how many of our former members can remember the names of those horses they rode during their depot days or while deployed on stations and conducting patrols in the rural areas? What of all those dogs that served in the force with such loyalty? The web master would like to list some of these anuimals for posterity and would welcome your input if you have anything to offer. Basically we would like to know numbers, names, approximate period of service and where encountered (station or training depot). Drop the web master a line.

History of the BSA Police: In Circulation
Members who have been awaiting the arrival of the publication 'Blue and Old Gold' will be please to learn that this in now being distributed to the various agents of the publisher, 30 Degrees South.  The first two reviews by former members might interest a few of you.

'My first glance is that it is a great book. Thank you for a marvelous presentation of our history.'
David Sloman (5695)

'I have just glanced through Blue and Old Gold - The History of the British South Africa Police 1889-1980. All I can say is that the authors, illustrators, design technicians, publishers and contributors have scored a 'first'. The content and presentation of this publication does credit to all members (reserve and regular) who served Rhodesia for those 91 years and the British South Africa Police in particular. The publication will no doubt take its 'First of the Line' position in terms of other similar works that have been published since 1980. Not only will this publication be of immense value and pleasure to all members but also be of significant historical value to historians and all Rhodesians.'
Peter Stanton (5809)

Images Appeal Recently the web site administrator made an appeal for reasonable quality colour images depicting activity within the BSA Police.  If you have something in your collection which would be appropriate for use on the web site, which is presently being redesigned and re-coded to keep up with technology, then please drop the web site administrator a line (address above).  This image of Patrol Officer Ed Batty (7514) on Regimental Horse Rajput is a fine example.
