Was one of 20 other young men from United Kingdom, SA and Rhodesia who were brought together by attesting at PGHQ on 21 March 61 as members of 5 Squad 1961. Served at Bindura, Shamva, Salisbury Central, Highlands, CID Salisbury and CID Bulawayo. Later joined the S.A Police, retired 1996. Presently part of IBM Southern Africa Security Team. Now retired after 43 years in the saddle!! I am really enjoying it.

Joined BSA Police after serving in Metropolitan Police, London. After three weeks at depot and driving school was posted to Matabeleland where I was stationed at Essexvale and was a member of PATU. I also served at C.I.D. Stores, Bulawayo before transferring to Rhodaf where they tried to make a pilot out of me . Came home to Ireland before Independence and married Linda. I have three daughters, Gillian, Aimee and Cecily and have a successful business selling Engineering Supplies. Delighted to see this site as my years in Rhodesia were very special especially those in the BSA Police I would love to hear from anyone who knew me and would especially like to know the whereabouts of Graham Lailey and Dave James, both of whom were with me at Essexvale and with whom I shared some magic times.

I attested into the Force being Ex Northern Rhodesian Police (1681). Served 3 years in the Support Unit after Depot then Lomagundi District Kariba, Karoi, Kanyemba, Mangula, Chirundu, and Banket. Posted to Law and Police Morris Depot 1975. 1977 posted to Mounted Troop Support Unit and served with the Unit until transfered to PGHQ as Staff Officer Promotions in February 1982. Transfered to Bindura from where I left the force. I joined Rio Tinto and served at various of their Mines and operations before leaving for the United Kingdom in 2002. Then went to Salisbury Licence Inspectorate, and became 2 i/c there with W/C/Inspector Frances Fourie.Nick Lywood, Floris De Meyer,Noelene (Magic) Madgewick, Lynn Wyatt,Alister Steuart,and others. Did a short stinit as L/S/O/ at Training Morris Deport before transferring remainder of contract to Ministry of Defence, 1 RLI. Remained at RLI serving in 3 Commando and Training Troop, until I resigned in July 1980. Did Insurance Claims Investigations as partner in business in Salisbury (Harare) before returning to UK and continued Insurance Claims investigations until 2007, when I retired to sunny Greece. Now doing nothing except relaxing. Never been so busy!
