IntroductionThe Inaugural meeting of the Eastern Cape Branch of the BSA Police Regimental Association was held at the Bird Street MOTH Club on the 15th November 1978 with 10 members in attendance. At that time there was a regular monthly get together on the third Wednesday of each month at 18h00 at this same venue. This remained the official venue of the Eastern Cape branch but with a few other trial venues until the closure and sale of the Bird Street club in the 90’s. The Eastern Cape branch no longer has set monthly gatherings, and no longer has a dedicated venue, but arrangements can be made by contacting any of the branch committee members.

Informal Functions Due to driving concerns and the increasing hazards of going out at night this in general has had a severe negative affect on branch turn out. The branch no longer has set informal functions, however, it has been very fortunate that over the years the MOTH Eastern Cape Provincial Dugout has permitted the association to use the Outspan Shell Hole on the Kragga Kamma Road, Theescombe, Port Elizabeth for previously arranged gatherings, functions or when there is a visitor from out of town who wishes to make contact!

Forthcoming Despite a lack of support that most associations are experiencing, the Eastern Cape branch attempt to organise a quarterly function to which all ex Rhodesian Services are invited.

For the last four years we have had a function where we have combined with the other Rhodesian Armed Service to have a Rhodesian Day.

At this event we have a short combined parade to remember all the fallen Rhodesian service men and women to which there is no obligation to attend or participate and this is now days followed by a Bring and Braai function which is open to all Rhodesians and Friends.

The branch also has a further two annual events planned for the remainder of each year which is our Annual BSA Police Association Annual Lunch and our Christmas Bring and Braai.
